MARIJUANA AND ALCOHOL

Car hit by truckIf we want information about the use of marijuana in combination with other drugs, we need only look at vehicular fatalities in which the driver at fault can be determined.  Motor vehicle deaths occur suddenly and without any opportunity to alter the drug content of the body.

Of drivers who are killed and at fault in the accident, about 90% are driving while intoxicated.  Of that 90%, about one in four has alcohol as well as an illegal drug in his system.

This young man was killed when he pulled out of a side street into the path of an oncoming truck.  He tested positive for both marijuana and alcohol.  A baggie of marijuana can be seen in his shirt pocket.
