SNORTING COCAINE

Cocaine is usually taken by sniffing or snorting.  A line of cocaine is sniffed up the nose using a straw or rolled up dollar bill.  The cocaine is absorbed through the mucous membrane of the nose.  The high comes on over a period of several minutes and lasts less than an hour.  Smoking crack (rock) cocaine gets the maximum amount of drug into the system in the shortest period of time.  However, this high lasts only a few minutes and is followed by an intense low and a craving for more of the drug.

The subject in these pictures died of an apparent heart attack.  He was only 37 years old and had no significant heart disease.  His body tested positive for cocaine. A small packet of cocaine with a straw and razor blade was found inside his sock.  There is no doubt that his death was directly related to cocaine intoxication.
